Can anyone tell me, is it normal for my computer to dial up each time I connect using Broadband? I do switch off the computer each time I use it
is this the reason?
If you are using a normal Broadband modem.
Then the answer is Yes it will normally connect, unless you have set it not to.
This is because the modem is not usually powered when the computr is turned off. But on switching on the modem gets powered and hence will connect. This is a good thing, as it keeps the sync at the highest speed possible
I am assuming you do mean it connects, rather than dial up, as BB doesn't use a dial up connection.
.
Many UK broadband connections still make use of the old 'Dial-Up Networking' dialog box that makes it look just like it is dialling up a phone number. It will normally say something like "Dialling 0,38". If you see that, this confirms that you have a USB broadband modem and your Internet connection gets cut off each time that you switch off your PC, just as Fingees said.
