what's up with IE7?

I have had IE7 in this machine for 3 years, and it has NEVER crashed as often as it does now. For some reason, in the last 6 months it has crashed almost regularly. Is IE8 any better about this?

Here was I thinking it was only me. I'm absolutely cheesed off with the number of times I get the message Internet Explore cannot open the webpage or words similar to that. I have checked my internet connection (Bt broadband) several times and no problems have been found. Refreshing the page doesn't always work either.

Hi ,

Try using a different browser , I've always used firefox and apart from one case of a rootkit virus redirecting the search engines have never had a problem . Have you added any new routers , firewall software , etc ? Sometimes just a blocked cookie will not allow a page to open - if your not too security minded allow all cookies ( you can always delete them ) , Firefox especially will delete all browsing activity if you set the required field . IE8 is an ok browser , just a matter of preference .

Re: what's up with IE7?

Another thing that resolves a lot of browser connectivity issues is using the DoS command prompt . Each time you connect to the internet if your IP gives a dynamic IP address your system will place the range of addresses in a cache file .

Try this :

Start > run > ipconfig

that gives the current connectivity addresses from your IP

To request a new IP address use :

Start > run > ipconfig /renew

to clear the DNS cache use :

Start > run > ipconfig /flushdns

This will clear the dns server cache from your system and normally solves any browser connectivity issues .
