Just remember that because it says freeware doesn't mean that it is free. There is aways a catch to freeware and most if the time it puts your computer at a high security risk :eyespop:

Happy freewaring!!!

I try not to!!

Too many extras come with freeware that I'm not willing to take on. :eyespop:

Maybe one day Mozilla will charge for firefox and take out their secutity holes and it might be a browser worth having.

Hmm. I do hope you are referring to the more countless holes IE, and other IE based, and even Opera has compared to Fx? Did I forget to mention that Fx is opened source so anyone can find the exploits and fix them? Did I forget to mention the hundreds of extensions and themes? Oh what about it being completely free and with no ads? What about the entire company being open-sourced?

Thread splitted, time for some discussion to take place! :dgrin:

I could care less about themes. All a theme is, is just different ways of coloring something. I can get different themes for just about anything.

As far as the extentsions, add-ons, and/or plugins goes, all they do is slow down a program and make more unstable. The bigger the proggy the slower it is. The more plugins you add makes the proggy bigger. It is already bigger then Opera and you need all the plugins to make it come close it too. You loose a lot to gain a little.

If you haven't found it out in life yet, there is no such thing as completely free. There is aways a price. Sometimes you are better off with things like ads that you know are there then the things you don't know about.

Anyways, Firefox will never be in the same boat as Opera.

That is because people want to fool themselves that anything that says "freeware" is better then anything you buy. Lets face it, If firefox wasn't "freeware" there wouldn't even be half the people using. Just because it says "freeware" doesn't make it better.

Besides if we were going by a popularity contest, then that would make IE the best browser you could have and Netscape the next best thing. Seeing how over 90% of the people use IE(which is by far the majority) and Netscape having the next biggest % that would leave having about 1.5% to 2%. Not much eh!!

Fx isn't freeware, its open-sourced. Software is different then real life Ren. The Mozilla Found. is just a great group of people giving back to what is owed to us...the community.

Opera on the other hand is NOT free, it is supported by ads.

You may not care about a theme, but many other users does. It adds your own taste, you, into your browser. Sure there is Opera themes, but Fx are by far prettier then Opera's IMO.

As far as the extensions go, that is simply not true for Fx. If Mozilla finds that one is unstable or causes problems, they yank it from their website, so it certainly does not cause stability issues. As for it slowing it down, that is not true either. It may cause a second or two more for the initial loadtime of the extension but that is probably it depending on the type.

Internet Explorer is still the top dog, but the fact is that Netscape has been knocked out. I do want to inform you Ren that Netscape and Fx are almost the same code! Fx is just a heavily modified but its still based off of the same engine.

If I can recall correctly, Fx is currently beating Opera in its' total share. Oh and it also had a bigger debut then Opera 8 (beta) did . Although I love Opera, and any alternative to IE, Fx still is the very best in my mind, and probably always will be unless a major change happens in the market...dare I say GBrowser? :eyespop:
