Unable to conect to internet through norton antivirus

I am hoping someone here will be able to help me before I pull my hair out..lol
I was happy using AVG antivirus but about a week ago I found it wouldn't update...said I wasn't conected to internet. Anyway did all the uninstall and reinstall but still the same. Tried to install a different program but problem remained. I have now purchased Norton's Antivirus because I couldn't download a free one......but still the problem remains.
I can connect to email etc, but cannot conect through Norton etc to update.

My hubby seems to think a file has up and left my pc! Does anybody have any knowledge of what could be wrong or any idea of how to put things right.

Flojo

PS I have checked firewall etc and all is ok

try the setting of the firewall, are you using XP and got that firewall turned on as well?

AVG if using the old version there was no more updates, it advised updating to AVG free 7.5

I have just checked the firewall and only Norton is on.
Yes i do have a router which connects me with the other pc downstaires...which is working fine...
Could it be a router prob, surely if that was not working I wouldn't be able to get on internet at all?
Thanks for you time in trying to help me

are you having problems with the other machine?

are you wireless or using wires?

Just to let you know I have solved the problem. While going through list of programs I found an old firewall that hadnt been used in a long time. I deleted it and everything starting working.

Many Thanks for your help.
Happy New Year
