Cpu Change

hi. I have a sony vaio pcg-fx702 laptop with a 1400(1.2)AMD athlon mobile xp processor and it is around 3 years old. Could i change it to a 2600(2.2) AMD athlon m xp processor With out any conflicts or any other problems?

Sony Vaio itself gives no support for changing CPU's in laptops. That being said there is evidence of this being done at ones own risk.

Sony Vaio itself no longer recognizes your model but I found the spec sheet elsewhere:

From other posts I see the basic procedure for insuring compatibility would be to ID your motherboard and check the board specs.
