Dragio Is a beginner here at D-A-L
changing out chip set on my compaq presario 5000

Ok heres the deal seeing as my sisters laptop bit the dust i need to get her a working computer and i have this old Compaq Presario 5000 (Exact spects bellow) I also have a Athlon 1.4 GHz/200 processor out of a old HP Pavilion XT983 Desktop but have no idea how to change out the chip set proprly. any help would be most helpfull

Hi Dragio and welcome to D-A-L

there's not alot of difference between the 900 and the 1.4 but to change the processor have a look here Fitting the CPU

not forgetting ESD

Check your MB to see if it is capable of handling a bigger CPU. 900 may be all the bigger you can go. You may be limited. If changing CPU you may want to use arctic silver 5 Thermal Compound.
