Compaq Presario 5000 Series CPU Upgrade

I just bought a new CPU for my computer. A upgrade.

CURRENT:
Intel Pentium 4 478 Socket
1.7Ghz/256/400 1.75V

UPGRADE:
Intel Penitum 4 478 Socket
3Ghz/1M/800 ? V

When I tried it. It didn't work. Now I was researching the product and I found this.

how-build-upgrade-pc/17380-upgrading-compaq.h t m l

It comes from this site after "help/" in the URL. I had to sorten the link because it won't let me put a link in here if I had below 5 posts

I'm thinking if the motherboard can hold max numbers.

Is the 400 and the 800 clockrates/bus rates?
Can I go up to 2Ghz/1M/400 only? Max?

I need a short info.

I think I just waste $96 for nothing.

Re: Compaq Presario 5000 Series CPU Upgrade

What is the exact Compaq model?

There might be a BIOS update otherwise not much hope.
