question about Ad-Aware...

I am wondering why people keep telling me to uninstall it when trying to clean up my system... a computer friend of mine uninstalled it when he cleaned up my system. He kept Spybot S&D, but deleted Ad-Aware. Is it not a good program, or what? It obviously doesn't contain spyware, so why delete it? It doesn't run in the background, just scans.

Re: question about Ad-Aware...

Ad-aware has seemingly become a less effective tool over the years with other tools much more CONSISTENTLY effective against the more difficult and newer types of infections now appearing. I have not used nor recommended that tool in the last several years - not being in my short list of highly effective and reliable goto tools.
