Linux Embedded Into Bios. Cool Video

This news is a bit old but does deserve a bit of rehashing.
Asus motherboards and several other motherboard manufacturers are now offering quick booting technology.
By embeding a minimal Linux O.S into the bios the user can fast boot into the Linux system and have access to the internet, web browser, IM clients, Pictures on the hard drive and Skype.
And it's up and running in under 5 seconds!

This isn't some new hibernation scheme. This is a cold start up and boot into Linux.
For more info and a cool video take a look here;

Asus calls their technology Express Gate.
Asrock motherboards have a technology that is called Quick Boot but seems to be more of an enhanced hibernation scheme although they have bios updates for some of their older motherboards that will allow the use of this new feature.

I don't believe Asus can implement this feature on older motherboards with a bios update due to the need of a bios chip that can handle the extra space required by the Linux OS and possibly the use of an add-on chip connected to the bios that stores the Linux OS.

Linux is all over the place. You just need to open your eyes and take a close look.
And ask yourself this.......
Why do you think Microsoft uses Linux for it's O.S. in the X-Box?
