Re: linux

Howdy dingchris. What operating system? What application? Computer Specs?

I don't have a lot to work with here except for a dancing Tasmanian devil and he aint telling me much. I know Linux can be intimidating. But it can be learned like anything else. Otherwise, guys like me couldn't run it.

First get in your head that windows exe. downloaded files need to be run in Wine if you can't live without Windows Apps.
WineHQ - Run Windows applications on Linux, BSD, Solaris and Mac OS X

Doesn;t mean your app will work in Wine. Kinda hit and miss.

I don't run Wine or any Windows apps so I won;t be a lot of help there. Reason is, it is a good way to get a trojan. I won;t go into detail. Just know it is so.

I chat, burn and watch movies, rip music, change wav files to mp3 and vis versa. Use my Mp3. All these things without Windows. If you tell me what distro you are running. I can refer you to that distros forum.

For best results, be a little more detailed on what you are trying to accomplish and post in a respectful manner. Good Luck.

I agree with both. See we really can't help you if we don't know more about your system(s) and about your situation. Also we can't help you if you don't answer our questions nor follow our advice and respond with the result(s). Now most people don't provide enough info with their first post and we understand that they probably either don't know what we need to know or they don't even think about it but there is no need to be sarcastic when we ask for more info because that is how this works. If you want our help you need to be willing to work with us otherwise we can't help you. When you go see a doctor you have to tell him/her whats wrong with you so that you can get the help that you need; it is the same thing for us. We aren't mind readers.

Re: linux

Nero - Nero Linux 4

Don't know about the others. I'm not a linux person so I'm going to stay out of it.

Re: linux

The Linux Alternative Project - linuxalt.com

Use the above link to find the Linux equivalent for Nero. I use Braserio and K3b for burning Cds and DVDs in Linux. There are other choices also. They will be in your package manager to download and install. You don't need to download and install from a site on the net like you did in Windows. The package manager will handle all that for you.

You have a package manager in Open Suse.

Download the PDF Users guide (from below link) to your /home folder and read up on how your operating system works

Novell Doc: OpenSUSE 11.0 - Table of Contents

Pay attention to the YAST section of PDF manual on installing software. Good luck with it.
