Seeking Basic Start Up Help For Imac

I am doing this for a friend. She is disabled and virtually house bound. She was given a new IMAC OS 9.2 as a present some 3 yrs ago. Eversince then she had tried to get it up and running. No manual. No basic idiots guide. Numerous friends have tried to get her started but none managed it. No one found who has experience of this type of computer. I am seeking someone out there who can provide some basic, really basic, instructions. I will then use them to assist her. Is there anyone who can help us PLEASE? In hope, Su.

Re: Seeking Basic Start Up Help For Imac

From my searching OS 9 appears to be as archaic as Windows '98 just for example.

Anyway I found a few books listed at Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Mac-OS-Missing.../dp/1565928571

And a few links from Apple:

http://www.apple.com/support/macos9/

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75288

http://search.info.apple.com/?search...MAC%20OS%209.2

http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/imac/

Perhaps another member will have more hands on experience with MACS. Hope this helps anyway.

Re: Seeking Basic Start Up Help For Imac

Hi
I can help you. Can you let me know what sort of Mac it is? Tell me what it looks like and I will know. I've over 20 years experience of Macs and know them inside out. OS9 may be old but is a very easy system to use once you know the basics. I'll soon get your friend to type letters, surf the web and send emails (just for starters!).
