XP on an Apple Mac?

I know of bootcamp, and you can partition the hard drive, run XP and etc.

I am wondering can i just uninstall MAC OS and put Windows XP on a Mac? (minimac to be exact)

I'm wondering cause i am going to be building an in-car PC and the minimac fits perfectly but my software is for PC.

Well really the question isn't just about installing it, which I don't know why it wouldn't, but it's whether or not you can get XP to use the hardware. You'll need drivers for the chipset, ethernet/wireless adapter (which might be seperate) if you want to connect to the internet, graphics, and sound. I'm sorry to say that I don't know if you can get all of that because I'm not a Mac person. I think when you install XP on a mac that you use Vmware fusion & that fakes a computer that is generic enough that windows can run it with only it's built in drivers. In reality vmware is a program that runs on the mac os so you might be better off with leaving OS X on the computer and run XP on top of it with vmware fusion. That will work.

I don't know how good you are with computer hardware but if you are confident you could look into building a computer with a smaller sized motherboard.

What i want is a small pc (i've looked into mini-ITX and other variations, they don't seem very compatible/upgradable in terms of their size and hardware.)

The mini-mac looks like the best option, i just want it to boot straight to XP, which will then start up the media program i'm using. No other programs required, internet or anything, just the multimedia program (Audio, Video, GPS)

I think i'll look into it some more before i make any hasty decisions.

I am not an expert however I do not think you can. You will need Boot Camp or Parallels.

I have Parallels on an I Mac with XP. It is partitioned about 60-40. You would partition more to the XP in your case. Also get rid of any needless extras on the Mac side that you would not be using. It takes about 20 seconds to come up. With Parallels, it is just a click of an icon.

With boot camp, at least it used to be that it had to boot up. Do not know if that is still the case.

The speed or lack there of for turning on the XP is like having a computer from 10 years ago. However, once up, it should run fine. You will not know your on a Mac, except for one thing.

Funny but it has never crashed on me. It did lock up once but I was way over-extending it, running more than a few programs at once. It has never happened since.
