MP3 dummy

Hi, When you convert ripped cds to MP3 then want to burn alot of them on a CD, how do you number them, (ie: 1 to what ever or is there another way of doing this) and are all MP3 players random play or will they follow the track numbers.
Also I have Kodak digital camera software on the computer and while this is there the MP3 player cant be found, anyone know how to fix this. Thanks

Re: MP3 dummy

When I'm going to burn a CD of MP3s, I copy each of the MP3s I want into a new directory. Then I rename each one with a number prefix, e.g. "001 song name ...", "002 song name ...". Bear in mind that a computer reading an alphabetical list would place 10 before 2, i.e.

1
10
11
12
2
3
4
5

that's why you need to put one or two zeros in front, e.g.

01
02
03
04
05
10
11
12

Also, some MP3 players will read into folders. I found this very useful when burning a CD of MP3s to play in my car as not only could I switch between different tracks but I could also switch between folders on the CD so that I could have several different music styles or albums separated on the one CD.

Re: MP3 dummy

Random play ought to just be an option. I would expect most MP3 players to play sequentially in alphabetical order as described above.

Re: MP3 dummy

Thank you for the help on numbering the songs. MP3 player is a Ministy of sound 128mb. I did e-mail Kodak and they said with there software on nothing else will work.
It is a kodak 7440 digital camera software and nere 5.0 burning software. Burning is no problem.

Re: MP3 dummy

Forgive me if this is stating the obvious but, when you've been using your camera software along with your Kodak camera connected to the PC via a USB lead and then you say your MP3 player doesn't get detected, I'm assuming that the MP3 player is still plugged into the PC, right?!

Re: MP3 dummy

Does the camera have a memory card or is it the cradle hardware type? If its a memory card you don't need their software anyway do ditch it. You can install a number of free photo editing software titles that probably do a way better job than Kodak provides.
