Question Need to find boot disk

Could anyone tell me if there is a place i could make a boot floppy of my OS for a Compaq Presario 5441. I didn't get one with this computer, hate the ME that's on it and have a liget XP upgrade disk. When i tried to upgrade over the ME the XP told me that it would allow that but that doing so would uninstall my modem and other things i need on this system. Is this possible to even do?

Re: Need to find boot disk

What do you want to boot?

If you are asking if an upgrade to XP is possible; try this:

Windows XP Upgrade Advisor

Question Re: Need to find boot disk

Checked out the upgrade advisor link. It says me will take the upgrade. Didn't download the advisor as it's 31.?mb. Take up to much time on dialup to download. I have that extra 4gig hard drive that is already formatted to xp. Wonder if this computer would support both drives?

Re: Need to find boot disk

if the question is to upgrade to xp i would say no;

but if you want to try; during the upgrade make sure to save the uninstall files; which will allow you to uninsatll xp & return to ME; or else have a ME install disk or some other OS.

if I misread the question; sorry

Question Re: Need to find boot disk

Thanx jephree,
I trust your judgement and if you wouldn't upgrade to xp then thats . I won't try that.
What about using the 4gig as a second drive with xp on it. Do you think this computer would support that?

Re: Need to find boot disk

I have 376.omb ram on this computer, (had a couple sticks gathering dust). Did a quick peek at the link, and it said about creating multiple drives in xp, will that be the same as creating them in me. Just teasing, brained fried, will check it out tomorrow. Thanx jephree as always
