A few finds:
In 2002 use Tools/AutoCorrect Options and then uncheck "Capitalize first
letter of sentences."
Word capitalizes only first word of each sentence - after dot and hard
break (ENTER). Its better not to press Enter after every line - word
will break line automatically - but only when you need new paragraph.
Sounds like the grammar checker has been turned to automatically fix
capitalization errors. This is a great feature which automatically
capitalizes any letter which is preceded by ". " (period-space) OR a hard
return.
There are two ways this can happen. First, check the AutoCorrect dialog
box options. This dialog box is presented when you select Tools ->
AutoCorrect. Uncheck the "Capitalize first letter of sentences" option and
your problem should stop being corrected automatically.
However, once you do that, you may start to see all those non-capitalized
first letters get marked as grammar errors. To fix this, bring up the
options dialog box by selecting Tools -> Options. Click on the Spelling
and Grammar tab. At the bottom, you will see a button for settings. Press
that button and the Grammar settings dialog box will appear. My guess is
that the capitalization option (the first one on the list) has a check mark
next to it. Uncheck it and Word will stop marking the capitol letters as
grammatically incorrect.
I learned to automatically turn these options off when creating agendas -
as "a.m." and "p.m." can suddenly become "a. M." and "p. M.".
