dragon5 Is a beginner here at D-A-L
When I press the Return key, either RealPlayer or Windows Media player launches.
How do I stop this from happening? What has caused it?

Do you have any software installed for your keyboard that allows you to have "shortcut keys" that open programs when you press them?

Does this happen every single time you press [Return] or only when you are pressing it within another program, e.g. Microsoft Word, etc?
