Adobe Photo Deluxe 3.0: can't save a file

I have been using my Adobe Photo Deluxe for at least 5 years and never had a problem. But now, after I scan a photo and try to save it to a disk in jpeg, no matter what I try to name the file, I get an error message saying "the file name is invalid". I have tried to save the same scan to my hard drive, which appears to work, but then I cannot open that file in any other application, like Presto Page Manager. I tried reinstalling the software, but that didn't help. Of course, Adobe doesn't support this program anymore, as it is at least 5 years old. Can anyone help?
