dvd copying problem

Hi I am trying to back up my dvds as I fed up with the kids lending them and not getting them back. I use 1click dvd and have no problems at all with the older ones. But as I buy new ones I get an error

īThe file system in the media canīt be read or isnīt foundī.

I think I have to update my firmware. Is this dangerous, can I stop the dvdrw working if I do anything wrong. And is firmware also reffered to as a driver?

I have an ASUS E616A CP08 (ide)
It says the driver is 5.1.2535.0.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Re: dvd copying problem

the newer DVD's have copy protection on them so they can not be copied
