I am just starting to tinker with my computer and was wondering if anybody could help me set up a modem, I haven't a clue so it would need to be an idiots guide.

Re: How to setup a Modem

What O/S (Operating System) are you running? (98, ME, Win2K, XP)

Do you have a driver package for the modem in question? (ie; floppy or CDROM.)

Is this a laptop or desktop system? (Relates to below)

Is it a seperate card in a (PCI/ISA) slot, or, is it onboard (part of the system motherboard)? (If it's onboard the modem drivers are usually on the CDROM for the motherboard.)

If it's a seperate card does it have a manufaturer/model number?
