Annoying messages

Since a few days ago I have been getting a whole bunch of messages everytime i log on to my laptop.

The first message I get is this one:

I can press ok and the message goes away

A very short time later i get this message, i have not done anything other than pressing ok:

I know for sure that I have not got the CD mentioned in the message so i press cancel

Instantly i get this message:

I press ok

Instantly i get this box:

Which gets nowhere

And then i get this message again:

After this it just starts looping about 3 times, and scince i can't be bothered waiting i just press cancel as fast as i can each time a box appears.

Thats my description

Please help me.

Re: Annoying messages

Try Sonic hotfix:

Download and Run the Sonic Isum_hotfix.exe File

1. http://tools.roxio.com/support/dell/isum_hotfix.exe
2. In the File Download - Security Warning window, click Run.
3. In the Internet Explorer - Security Warning window, click Run.
4. In the Sonic - ISUM Hotfix Setup window, click Yes to install the hotfix.
5. When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

Re: Annoying messages

That's OK.
Let's check next thing. Do you have any Sonic, or Roxio entry in msconfig/startup?
If so, disable it.
Restart.

Re: Annoying messages

Short answer, no, there is no entry called sonic or roxio.

By what you said I assumed you were talking about Start>Run>msconfig>startup, am I right or were you referring to something else?

Re: Annoying messages

Yes, this is what I meant.
After some further search, I believe, you are infected with something.
You may want to go to "Security" forum, and post your HijackThis log there.

Re: Annoying messages

Download, and install "HijackThis" from here: http://majorgeeks.com/Trend_Micro_HijackThis_d5554.html
After you are done with running it, you'll see a button "Save Log File". Save it, and post it back in "Security" forum.

Re: Annoying messages

Note that avmail.dll is sometimes related to WinAntiVirus, a "rogue" program as identified on the List of Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products. Before posting a log (and we have our own expert analyzers here at D-A-L) I recommend you clean up your system first as this may negate the need for a HJT log. Check out Cleaning Out Malware.

Also, if this just started a few days ago, I would suggest you try to roll back to a point in time before the problem surfaced by using System Restore.
