Help Windows Live Messenger keeps freezeing

hi

Every time I sign into WLM, it always freezes when a certain contact tries to message me, I used to be able to sort that by closing and starting it again, and not talk to that person, thing is that’s my best mate lol.

I tried reinstalling and it didn’t work same thing happens.

i also had problems trying to use the windows live installer they make u download so i downloaded live messenger on its own.

I did have this problem with most of my contacts now it only seems to be that one. i used to be ok if he wasn’t online, but he sent me a offline message so now every time I sign in it pops up and freezes and i don’t get time to block that contact so it wont come up.

Please anyone know what to do? Been trying to sort this all-day. Not used to not knowing what to do lol

kind of, i can talk to more people now with out it freezein but the same 2 people i cant talk to with out it freezein i have no idea why lol

It's a really odd issue this. Does it freeze and then eventually stabilise or does it just freeze and that's it?

For the two contacts that freeze, do you have any different backgrounds used for these readers or do the contacts have dynamic emoticons? Because these little graphical extras can cause messenger to crash.

your right about odd lol
its only 2 sertain people. and i know 1 has costom emotions but it freezes even when they dont use them, and the other contact dosnt have any.

i was thinking it could be a problem with the program its self? because i think they have a slightly different version of msn.

i dont have different backgrounds or anything.

and it dosnt stableise just stays frozen for ages and i have to close the program useing Ctrl,Alt Delete

Are you using any add on programs for Messenger? And how long ago was it since you installed the version you are running because an updated version could be available now.

Windows live messenger is awful -
heres the best alternative - - pidgin portable:
download here:
http://www.pidgin.im/download/

its freeware and can even be used from a flash drive.
it supports google talk, msn, aim, icq, and more..
