vitual os

i used to know of a program that you could use to run an operating system to try it out before you install it on your computer.
i have now forgot the name of the program and can not fine it or anything similar on the net.
i know that making a new partition and installing it there then double booting would work for me to test an os but i dont want to do this.
if anybody knows the name of a program that will let me do this then please let me know.

thanks in advance

dave

Re: vitual os

VMware Player might be just what you are looking for.

There is also of course Microsoft Virtual PC 2007, but this only runs on XP Pro and Vista Ultimate (which shouldn't be a problem for you)

Re: vitual os

I use Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 and I reckon it's fantastic. The 2007 version should be even smarter. And the good thing is that Microsoft have now made them free!
