I work on WindowsXP, Office97.
Every time when opening a Word97 document I receive message
"do you want to revert to the saved file?"
What can be done to get rid of this? Please advise.

There are a number of different ways to solve this problem, all of which are covered here in this Microsoft Article. Method 1 is the easiest if you have the Word CDs. If not, then I'd recommend Method 4.
