viewing mht files

I work on two computers, in my office on a WinXP profesional and connected to the Internet, at home on WinXP Home, and offline.
I received a disk with a series of iles *.mht and copied them to the HD on both computers.
Now I can load the files in full from my HD on the office computer but on my home one the pictures do not open, and I see only the text and some auxiliary gifs.
When I click on the picture a message appears saying that the file is not available in offline state.
Is there any way to see the files in full on the offline computer and how should it be done?

According to the info for that extension, this kind webpage file retains the web links that are on that webpage. In other words by clicking on a link (which a picture could be) it is trying to follow that link on the web. It can't do this if you are off line which is why you are getting that error. The only way to get around that would be to download all of the files that all of the links of a particular web page to your hard drive & the manually change the path the link to the file's location on the hard drive. To do this you'll have to learn html but it can be done [but it will be tedious]. Browsers by default don't download all of the pages linked to a web page so that has to be done manually. I hope you see that It'll just be easier to go online when you are attempting to pull up a link. Hope this make sense.

Basically the files (.mht) are on your hard drive but they are still referencing files that are online.
