Cannot make a PDF in Word 2002

Hello all

Today I tried to convert a word document into a PDF by clicking on the Adobe PDF icon (top left corner) it started the process and got so far then just froze up.

It was working fine a few days ago.

Any ideas?

When issues suddenly appear running a System Restore is always an option.

Also do you have both Word and Adobe up to date with updates?

Lastly I see this other method that you might try:

1.Open the document you want to save as a PDF.

2.From the File menu, click Print.

3.Under the Printer section, use the drop arrow to select Acrobat Distiller.

4.Click OK.

5.The Save PDF File As window will appear. Type in a name for the file.

6.Be sure the Save As Type is set to PDF files (*.PDF).

7.Click Save.

I've updated everything and done a system restore then followed your instructions but it still wont work, I get a print error message.

Well I was just Googling. I have no personal experience here.

You might browse your Event Viewer and see if any errors show up.

Event Viewer

Check your Event Viewer via Administrative Tools.

Open the System as well as Application tabs and look for red X errors that coincide with your problem. Details here:

Also any other errors you receive please post them verbatim.

I've solved the problem Jephree . . .

I just remembered that I've been configuring my startup options to enable my PC to boot up quicker and it seems I've accidentally disabled the Adobe Acrobat Assistant and Adobe Gamma.

I enabled both these and now I can make a PDF.

Well as it happens, I have been having some playback issues with Windows Media Player 11.

When I play a DVD it's a jerky picture, as if it's stopping and starting.

Is this XP?

Were you ever able to play DVDs well?

Do you have any third party DVD software?

If it is XP there is very little native support for DVD in XP as XP basically preceded DVDs.

Yes they used to play ok but it was a while ago

I also have Cyberlink PowerDVD and AVI and Realplayer.

If you have problems within Cyberlink PowerDVD you could try and contact them or search their database:

Do all DVDs act the same? Or just newer ones?

Again you can check your Event Viewer for any coinciding issues.
