CD-Key Duplicate for Half-Life Counter-Strike

hi....i bought a game 2 days ago and i downloaded steam from steampowered.com and when i entered in my cd-key, it said Duplicate Cd-key and it didn't let me continue...so i went back to the shop and exchanged the game...and the game i bought yesterday says the same thing! it is really bugging me that my $40 game is no use...i e-mailed steampowered but they haven't replied and i really wanna go play some cs!! please help me..im really confused

Looks like someone has opened the retail package and peeked a look at the key.

However if you have the physical key from the retail box then you will be classed as the key owner and steam will disable the other key user.

If It was purchased in the last 90 days you get avoid paying $10 and get your key reset for free.

go back to the store and tell them agian, and make sure you tell them this better be working or something like get a deal off them because you made a trip there already
