Re: "fail to find proper screen mode for gr2d"

ok so i share my computer with my dad since mine isn't fast enough to play maplestory. i just started playing (lvl7) and the next day my dad bought this new vidio card. it was much better than the old one. it was an all-in-wonder vidio card with catlyst and a game too. he installed the ati software but i dont think he installed the acutal driver in to the computer since i saw him brin git to work one day. now when i play maplestory it says: failed to find proper screen mode for gr2d. help!!!!!! is it because he didn't install teh actual driver but only the ati thing that has hydravision and stuff or is it because of something else? i really need healp, iam like 10% away from lvl8 and iam going to bbecome a mage. i realy want ot play. can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

Re: "fail to find proper screen mode for gr2d"

The basic response to that error is to load the latest drivers (if the card is capable).

ATI:

https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...ge&folderID=27

Also uninstall the previous driver. You will find this tool at the ATI site:

Quote:
The Catalyst Uninstaller is an optional download. We recommend using this utility to uninstall any previously installed Catalyst drivers prior to installation.

Re: "fail to find proper screen mode for gr2d"

There are many versions of SAPPHIRE RADEON 9200SE ATLANTIS

Some are PCI cards which might be an issue. Do you know if your card is PCI or AGP?

Also open dxdiag: start/Run/ dxdiag

On the main page what is your DirectX version? If not 9.0c you need it and it can be downloaded here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Also in dxdiag go to the Display tab. Is the device any further identified there? Also what is the 3D information reporting there?

Lastly try reinstalling the drivers after uninstall the old ones.

https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...ge&folderID=27

Looking at the ATI site in more detail the 9200 series is no longer supported by the latest drivers.

The last driver supported was/is: CATALYST™ 4.12
Driver Build 6.14.10.6497
8-082-041130a-019577c

ATI Customer Care > Drivers and Software > Windows XP > RADEON > Previous Drivers and Software >

This may be a problem as your current driver is not supported for you current card according to ATI.

Re: "fail to find proper screen mode for gr2d"

As I see an interest in this old thread and topic I will re-open it.

This error is described here:

MapleStory
--------------------------------------------------
Begin by reading the following section of This Guide.

I just quote the preliminaries. Scroll down the page for information of detecting your hardware and locating the proper drivers.

Quote:
[3.0.0] MapleStory

[3.1.0] MapleStory Errors

[3.1.1] "Failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D"

This section would be helpful to you if:

--> you have reinstalled Windows recently on your computer;
--> you have never played MS on your computer before;
--> you are trying to run MS in a virtual machine (jump to [3.1.1.6] now);

This section does not apply to you if:

--> MS worked on your computer before but you have not reinstalled Windows between now and the previous time it worked;
--> MS worked on your computer before but due to a patch or a GameGuard update, it no longer works;

If the last two applies to you, I suggest you do some universal fixes right now: reboot, reinstall the client, redownload and reinstall the client, system restore to an earlier point where it does work, and/or email Wizet (but make sure you mention that MS worked previous to a patch or whatever event that made it not work). It also wouldn't hurt to try these sections, but you will have a lesser chance of getting it to work compared to the people these sections are written for.
It means either your graphics card is not up to running this game or else you need to reload your drivers for your graphics card.
