"fail to find proper screen mode for gr2d"

Perhaps it's been asked before and I apologize for repeating it again. I was googling for it for the past 2 nights... no luck in fixing this issue.

I was on MapleStory for the past year or so. And recently I replaced my new harddrive with a bigger one. So everything's started fresh (cause I cannot get the old HD to work any more - which is another issue).

When I installed and re-installed MapleStory, it won't load and displays "failed to find proper screen mode for gr2d".

I've tried to adjust the monitor setting, but I cannot find the 256 color setting. I even tried to adjust the display property, it cannot be adjust. No rollback available. x___x

I've tried to install nVidia, but it says I am missing a driver. o__O

DirectX has been installed as per instruction from Maple Story's official site.

I am not sure if I have installed other things properly from my motherboard or not. And I am pretty much a PC illiterate... ahem*

Can anyone shed me some light? Pls?!

What display mode are you looking for?

If you cant move ur mode in the display settings, then u probably have not installed ur video drivers. Look for the drivers in the motherboard CD that came with ur PC. Install the drivers and then try changing the modes.

ya.. after searching the net and talking to my coworker (the one who built this PC for me)
I realized I haven't done the crucial step - reinstall the drivers on the CD for the board.

So ... things been fixed.. for now.

Just need to figure out how to get the OLD HD working again.

yeah hi, uhh im completely PC illiterate =], where is it that i change the mode for the gr2D for maple story? in display properties? if so where in there? i have the same problem as memeow.

well. my problem has been solved since I reinstalled the drivers from the motherboard CD. I am not sure about your case.

I had a new HDD installed, that's why I need the reinstall the motherboard CD drivers ^^

So far working good with MapleStory!

We have the same problem here. First we had maple story on our computer but since we cleaned the pc completely we can't open maple story anymore. we downloaded the game and than we get this "failed in proper screen mode gr2d.
Can anyone please help us?

This is a widely reported error with no definitive answer. I have searched it many times.
