Maple Story Issue - "failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D"

I have recently downloaded Maple Story to play. When I try to run it it gives me the error "failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D". I have gotten the game to work months before now on this same laptop but now it just does not want to work for some reason. Can someone help me?

That error occurs when either your graphics card is inadequate or does not have the latest drivers.

And or if you do not have DirectX 9.0c.

If the game worked previously then I would try reloading your drivers and DirectX.

New patches on the game might also have raised the bar as to graphics compatibility.

I have DirectX 9.0c and my graphics is Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller.
The patches explaination sounds reasonable to me. If there is anything else I can do to get it to work I would appreciate it.
