trouble with Counter Strike

hey d-a-l crew im no newbie to the elctronic world ... my computer has 1GB sdram 512MB nivida video card 40GB hard drive and a 1.8GHZ IBM computer well i have played counter strike at a friends and i love the game but i tryed it over at my house it worked but the ping was extremly high. i deleted it and reinstalled and it did not load it just froze it dopes this for me every time what should i do..

Ping doesn't have to do with your actual computer hardware but with your internet connection.

Got any internet monitoring/safety programs (e.g. Norton Internet Suite)?
They could be the problem.
