Maplestory: Failed in finding proper screen mode in Gr2d
Yes, I too have this horrible problem.
Yes, I did read some of the other posts.
I have an ATI RADEON x850 series graphics card, and already updated the driver.
This is an old computer, first time trying to run maplestory on it.
I have DirectX 9.0 on it. But whatever, here's the information from dxdiag.

Re: Maplestory: Failed in finding proper screen mode in Gr2d
I know that there's a problem in this section,
Display Tab 1: No problems found. Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware
But, I just installed the newest drivers from ATI for my graphics card and don't understand why it still says this.

This says it all:

If indeed you have the most recent driver for that card then unfortunately that card cannot run the software.

The latest drivers are here:
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca...=xp/radeonx-xp
All previous drivers should be removed prior to installing new drivers.

Re: Maplestory: Failed in finding proper screen mode in Gr2d
Well, this card was in a different computer, unfortunately that computer crapped out, but Maplestory was working on that computer with the radeon
x850 that is in the computer that I'm using now. So, I don't understand why this game would work on that computer, but not on this one.

Um, also I noticed that Earthlink Protection Control Center was on, but the firewall was off, could it still have an effect on the installation of the drivers?

Re: Maplestory: Failed in finding proper screen mode in Gr2d
Could be. There is no reason to be online or running anything when you install drivers.
Download the drivers to your desktop then remove all previous ATI drivers.
Reboot and load the new drivers from the desktop.
If you have other programs starting turn them off.
Of course it could be the motherboard will not support the full potential of the graphics card.
Try the scan I posted.

Re: Maplestory: Failed in finding proper screen mode in Gr2d
I've been sitting here with the scan on in the background for the last 20 minutes or so, and it still hasn't passed the 1st box, and still says it's "Downloading" as the status.
And yes, I did click Install ActiveX.
I'll keep waiting I suppose.
Thanks for the help

Re: Maplestory: Failed in finding proper screen mode in Gr2d
No use waiting. Cancel it and try again.
What is the make and model of the motherboard?
If you don't know try Belarc under Main Circuit Board.
Or else CPU_Z
