White screen on startup

Hi i have just installed breath of fire 4 on my system:

Amd athlon 64bit 3200+
2 gig mem
256mb ati radion 9600 pro
sb live 24bit 5.1
windows xp home sp2

but when i start the game game the capcom logo comes up and then after that i just have a white screen with the theme song/music playing in the background and nothing else happens, i've left it for ages and i still get nothing other than a white screen,
any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The only personal experience I can add is that your hardware may be too advanced for this game.

Are you running this off of your hard drive or a CD?

If a CD try copying the CD to the hard drive.
