Hm... Lag Spikes in games.

I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this irritating bug. I get lag spikes in whatever I play for 3-10 seconds each time and it happens every couple of minutes. I've looked everywhere and can't find any solution that works. (I disabled Wireless Zero Configuration since it seems to be the problem with XP users but it didn't work for me). My D-Link router is wired, not wireless. Anyone can aid me with this issue?

Is this a new problem or has it always happened?

Any problem outside of games?

Monitor your Task Manager and see if something is spiking the CPU usage.

You can also try the Event Viewer for any possible coinciding errors.

It happened a good while ago, I could deal with it in the online racing game but in Lord of the Rings Online it's nearly impossible to play, lag spikes occurs way more often.

Nothing's hogging my cpu usage in the task manager either. The only solutions I seem to have found on the internet are related to either Vista or Wireless routers, I don't use either unfortunately.

Edit: There doesn't seem to have any problems on my brother's or dad's PC either, which is weird if it was the Router itself.

Have you ever changed your refresh rate?

Now it is 70 Hz

Maybe try 60 Hz

I tried 60 Hz and I'm still getting lag spikes.

You can play the same games through your brothers or dads machines without this problem?

Yeah my brother is playing World of Warcraft with not a single lag spike. It happens in every games I seem to play.

Do you recall anything that you did at such a point? New hardware? New software?

Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card?

Like 2-3 months ago it didn't have that issue. The router is the only thing I could think of affecting it, but it doesn't do it on other pcs.
