It would be a good test if you are able to just try and go downstairs and play wired.

If you can play wired without the same issue we could pretty much confirm the wireless driver error.

I would recommend this test but if it is not feasible you could try to reinstall the drivers if you can ID your hardware:

Wired downstairs at the moment, so far so good. Is it possible that the hardware needs to be replaced?

You can try to install the latest drivers first as posted link above.

Also you could try their call in support assuming it is free and they are your ISP.

That might not be the best but worth a try. ISP tech support is very questionable but it is free and they should support their customers.

Otherwise I would reload the hardware drivers.

Can you ID the exact device in the Device Manager?

right click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager then clikck the + next to Network Adapters.

installed the latest drivers, it found an update. They're not my ISP though.

Broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi Adapter
