Virus in Online Hardware Scan???

Hi from Kath in NZ! I just joined tonight (will introduce myself another time). I tried to download the Online Hardware Scan exe program, and immediately got a message from AVG telling me that this program had tried to infect the computer with a Trojan Horse. AVG healed this immediately, but does anyone know what is going on, or why that file would be infected? I clicked on the link for help with this item, and got a 404 error.

Any answers would be appreciated. I'd love to get a scan of a computer I'm having trouble with, but not at the expense of a virus!

We are getting the code checked out for the scan at the moment as we think the Virus scanners are picking up on something in there in error and giving a false message to users.
