Re: would like to wipe a computer

What are you going to do with it afterwards?

Are you loading a new operating system or are you reinstalling eMachines restore?

Re: would like to wipe a computer

If you reinstall XP you need the Product Key for that computer. It does not really depend on any particular CD.

However eMachine provided you with their own CD did they not?

Anyway you say you want to wipe the hard drive?

This is easily done but it depends on what you want to do after.

Re: would like to wipe a computer

"with out the key code i cannot finish installing window xp"

That is correct. Even if you wipe the hard drive it does not change that statement.

Again the key is on the computer. There should be a label on the computer.

That key is tied to the motherboard and not the hard drive but you would still need to know it.

Anyway the key should be printed on the computer.

Re: would like to wipe a computer

No matter what CD it is you still need the Product Key for that computer.

The key should be on a label on the computer case.

This key is on the motherboard memory.

Even if you wipe the hard drive or even put a brand new one in you still need this key.

Can you still enter widows on this computer or what is its present state?
