How to search using Google

You now need to search with quotation marks if you want true results from Google. As far as I can see we are witnessing the death of Google as the leading search engine.

As they say "what goes around comes around".

If you type in several words or a phrase to make a search then the closest matches should come up at the top of the results - on Google they do not. Just look at the cached pages for some of the weird results from Google.

The only way to get a true result from Google is to put the phrase in quotation marks. Google should not make this a necsessity - the searched for phrase should be the top result then descending down according to the number of matching words.

There are big changes going on right now....this is definately NOT the death of Google, beleive me!

All my search terms have today bounced back to the top of Google as they were prior to 21st May.

This is obviously great news but it worries me that I still have no idea of why and will it happen again.

David, The reason it happened is because Google is making considerable changes to their Algorithm. One of the main reasons for the change in Algorithm is to weed out the spammers who try every trick in the book to get sites top for certain keywords. It makes sense then that during a major update like this that some sites will drop and some will rise constantly whilst the update takes effect. What falls out the end of the update is hopefully more precise results, so if you built your site naturally with good content you have a good chance of bouncing back. If you don't bounce back you need to revisit the basic SEO techniques which Google themselves publicise on their own site and then change things around. As I have said for a few weeks though you have to let the update level out, as hard as it is you can see now why....your results are showing again and with a bit of luck they will stick!

You were right all along but there is so much hardwork at stake. Even when a site does not generate an income it is important for it to be successful in order to be motivated to continue to expand it. Such success is measured in search engine positioning and visitor numbers.
