dropper.delf.3.l

yeah, same story as everybody else who's dealt with it......avg freaks out and recognizes but fails to delete or heal this little annoying waste of my day off..

It's bad enough I bought the new Norton recently and can't for some strange reason even install it (infinite "click now to install" button).......bleh

Re: yay for trojans that don't go away (my log...help?)

Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows AdControl] C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINDOWS ADCONTROL\WINADCTL.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebRebates0] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\WEB_REBATES\WebRebates0.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [salm] c:\temp\salm.exe
O8 - Extra context menu item: Web Rebates - file://C:\PROGRAM FILES\WEB_REBATES\Sy1150\Tp1150\scri1150a.htm
O16 - DPF: {15AD4789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://public.windupdates.com/get_f... 53c90b23b7fc1

Click Fix Checked

Then boot into Safe Mode and ensure that you are showing Hidden Files and Folders.

Delete the following files and folders:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINDOWS ADCONTROL
C:\PROGRAM FILES\WEB_REBATES
c:\temp\salm.exe

Reboot and post a fresh log

If you could give me an exact location for the Trojan, it would help

Re: yay for trojans that don't go away (my log...help?)

I really appreciate the reply, but I think I finally figured everything out...however, I will go ahead and restart hijack this and see if any of those things need to be fixed..

and as far as the trojan goes, well, whatever I did seemed to have cleared it up...took a lot of safe mode booting and deleting and various free anti-spyware progs.

anyway, thanks again, and if anyhing else comes up, I'll be sure to check with you guys first.

Just fix that entry and then its a clean log. How are things running?
