Norton Virus Definitions: error LU1821

For the last 2 months when trying to run live update on Norton to get the lastest virus deinitions two error messages appear. The first one LU1806 says it can't install the virus definitions. The second LU1821 says they can't be installed because it was trying to overwrite a file already in use.

Any thoughts I am concerned that we may have a virus that is preventing any installs

come offline uninstall norton then reinstall then reboot your machine or follow the instructions on this address
