Question under attack
hi, i recently put a new hdd in and now got it up n running, i have avg free, adaware se, spybot S&D and hijack this in, i have tried to use windows updates but the only critical update i receive i cant seem to d/l as it always says fails, can someone have a quick look at this log and see if they notice anything that might be causing this, thanks in advance

You have a Worm that exploits a Windows Vulnerability and could possibly be blocking the Windows Updates.

Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entries:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ED103D9F-3070-4580-AB1E-E5C179C1AE41} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Start Upping] taksmgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Start Upping] taksmgr.exe

Then boot into Safe Mode and ensure that you are showing Hidden Files and Folders.

Reboot and post a fresh log

Fix these entries in Hijack This (making sure all internet explorer windows are closed):

Then reboot and post a fresh log. Do you get any specific error messages, could you describe it more?

those prefixes automatically return for some reason, as for the updates they look like they start to d/l but when completed they just say fail with nothing extra added saying why, i also think my avg and adaware updates fail now also, got me beat

Could you please visit http://housecall.trendmicro.com and let it remove any infections it finds.

Then reboot and post a fresh log.

no i have no idea and thats what is spinning me out aswell, puter seems to work but updates dont work either for windows, avg and adaware

I can't understand this. There isn't anything in your log that could be intercepting the downloads.
