hijack

I run windows 98SE. The problem is that a hijack has stopped me downloading critacal updates especially the update for windows 98SE to help stop hijacking of MSN.
as soon as I go to load up the update, or log into my hotmail account, a search page takes over with a title of "search for". I have used spybot, adware SE and BT spyware but they do not stop the hijack. can anyone help ?

Re: hijack

Could you download and run HiJack This and post the log file so we can see which hijacker you've got starting up? There's instructions for doing that in the Security forum which, incidentally, is where I'm going to move this post to as the guys in there are best at dealing with these problems.
