Another problem - extra searchbar this time...

Just had a check on this machine and seems my younger sister has done something again... First thing I noticed is IE has a new toolbar, a search bar. But I've not seen one like this before, as it changes with the page or site you are on. EG: If I go into ebay, the links are all for paypal, or postage stuff, etc, if I am on here it has "code" "computer" "Symantec" "Adware" etc, if I go into hotmail it has my most emailed address names in there!!! Don't like the look of it at all

So I ran SPy bot and picked up 12 new items, one of which I recognised (nCASE), removed all in spy bot and ran a scan (hijackthis) and here it is, if you kind folk wouldn't mind having a scour over and advising me again

I don't like the look of the first "01" entry, but still not confident enough to delete things on my own in case I get it wrong lol...

Only other thing is I get a few pop ups now, even tho XP has a blocker which has worked fine till now, and it looks like Norton has a blocker too. Both have worked fine till now, and the pop ups relate again to which site you are on (logic says then that the pop ups are related to the serach thing)

Look forward to your advice guys!

Re: Another problem - extra searchbar this time...

Now, upon boot up, I get Spy bot popping up telling me there has been a registry change for SEARCH BAR and do I want keep or deny changes. I denied (twice so far) yet I open IE and find ANOTHER search bar, this time at the bottom of my IE browser....

I don't know what the hell she has done to this, but itis getting worse and worse!!!!

Re: Another problem - extra searchbar this time...

Okay, update....

I was getting the about Spybot pop up every 30secs, even with the net disconnected from the LAN port, about the change to serach reg, no matter how many times I hit "deny" it kept coming back. I ran spy bot and it came up clear...

So I ran System Restore (backed it up to the 23rd (day before the new serach bar appeared) and let it reboot. Everything seems to be as normal now (links in Favourites appear to be back to normal, no extra search bars etc) and seems to be running fine (alledgedly, lol)

Downloaded and ran Ad Aware Personal SE, found 12 objects (a bunch of IE Data miners, and a bunch of listings for 180solutions - which ties in the the nCASE entry found in a previous Spy Bot scan)

Here is todays log from HJT;

Re: Another problem - extra searchbar this time...

Thats a clean log. It looked liked you helped yourself. You uninstalled MessengerPlus which was the cause of the problem.
