Rubes9492 Is a beginner here at D-A-L
Error: 800700C1 and websites not working

Please help me. Now whenever I try to go to particular websites they just plain don't work. Sometimes a white screen will flash really quickly when I go to the page or it will just give the webpage doesn't work link. This always happens on different sites. For example, sometimes yahoo won't work and sometimes in will.

Also (I'm not sure if this is related or not) whenever I leave my cpu alone for more then 30 minutes I come back to hundreds of error windows. The error window says:

Error: 800700C1
The Program will now terminate

I also get these Rundll error messages sometimes.

Thanks for the help. My Hijack this setup is this:

Re: Error: 800700C1 and websites not working

Go to http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html and uninstall New.Net. Then reboot and post a fresh log.

(If you can't access the site, here are the instructions. Try procedure one first, if it doesn't work, try procedure two:

PROCEDURE 1 (Add/Remove Programs):

1. Click on Start.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Control Panel.
4. From the Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
5. Click on the Install/Uninstall tab in the Add/Remove Programs Properties window.
6. Locate either New.net Application or New.net Domains and select it.
7. Click on the Add/Remove button.
8. After removal of our software, you may be prompted to reboot. Please reboot after removing our software.
9. If this does not fully remove our software, please proceed to PROCEDURE 2.

PROCEDURE 2 (Uninstall from Hard Drive):

1. Double-click on My Computer.
2. Double-click on the C: drive.
3. Double-click on the Program Files folder.
4. Locate and double-click on the NewDotNet folder.
5. Locate and double-click on the uninstall executable; it will be labeled uninstallX_XX.exe. (“X” represents the version number of the uninstaller and you should always use the latest version)
6. After removal of our software, you may be prompted to reboot. Please reboot after removing our software.)

Re: Error: 800700C1 and websites not working

Its ok, we'll update afterwards.

Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entries:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: IE Agent - {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000002230} - C:\Program Files\ClearSearch\CSBB.DLL (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VVSN] C:\Program Files\VVSN\VVSN.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebRebates0] "C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates\WebRebates0.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WhenUSearch] "C:\Program Files\WhenUSearch\Search.exe"

Click Fix Checked

Then boot into Safe Mode and ensure that you are showing Hidden Files and Folders.

Go to the Control Panel and uninstall the following:
ClearSearch
VVSN
Web_Rebates
WhenUSearch

Delete the following files and folders:
C:\Program Files\ClearSearch
C:\Program Files\VVSN
C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates
C:\Program Files\WhenUSearch

Reboot and post a fresh log

Re: Error: 800700C1 and websites not working

Damn it, my fault sorry.

Safe Mode:

1. Start Windows, or if it is running, shut Windows down, and then turn off the computer.
2. Restart the computer. The computer begins processing a set of instructions known as the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). What is displayed depends on the BIOS manufacturer. Some computers display a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS, while others may not display any indication that this process is happening.
3. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Continue to do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
4. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, scroll to and select the Safe mode menu item, and then press Enter.

Hidden Files and Folders:

# Do one of the following:

* In Windows 98/Me/2000, on the Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.
* In Windows XP, on the taskbar, click Start > My Computer.

# Do one of the following:

* In Windows 98, on the View menu, click Folder Options.
* In Windows Me/2000/XP, on the Tools menu, click Folder Options.

# On the View tab, uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.
# Do one of the following:

* In Windows 98, in the Advanced Settings box, under the "Hidden files" folder, click Show all files.
* In Windows Me/2000/XP, uncheck Hide protected operating system files. Then, under the "Hidden files" folder, click Show hidden files and folders.

# If you see a warning message, click Yes.
# Click Apply.
# Click OK.

No, the site has experienced some problems recently, so this could be the cause.

Thats a clean log now, still experiencing problems.
