What exactly is Botnet?
Over the last several days, our server has rebooted or just plain shutdown. We have 12 employees that suddenly realized they were disconnected from our server. At first I thought maybe there was a power surge, but now I'm wondering if someone has ahold of our server.
This happens like clockwork, every day approximately at 9:45 a.m. server reboots or shutdown.
I ran Spybot Search and Destroy on the server and it was loaded with spyware. I ran Ad-Aware SPE and there was several issues that needed to be quarantined. I ran Panda Online and it found over 4,000 infections and disinfected approximately all of them except for 11 files.
Recently, we cannot email AOL. I thought for some reason we might be Blacklisted so I called and they said we weren't but when I gave them our IP address to the server she asked me if I knew anything about Botnet. After doing a google search, I'm wondering if our organization is suffering from Botnet. Constant shutdowns and reboots for no apparent reason.
Where do I go from here? We can email anyone, except for AOL users. Postmaster@aol.com said that once the viruses and spyware is removed, they will unblock us. They said that I need to clear everything because our server is compromising scripts and/or computers (no clue what that means).
Any help would surely be appreciated.
