Thumbs up Re: Hijack help

Hello,Pittguy13 & Welcome

I don't see anything in the logfile try this lit me know
if it happens again.

click start->settings->control panel->internet options->programs tab->RESET WEB SETTINGS

That will change everything back to defaults (M$)......

Change your homepage and search engines to whatever you wish and reset your pc.

When it boots back up, open IE and see if the page stays the way that you set it.

Cool Re: Hijack help

Hi,Pittguy13

First please place HijackThis in a folder in C:\Drive like so C:\HJT

here is what i would like to try with you

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: QConGina - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\QConGina.dll

then just close out of HijackThis

now after you do that do this here for me

Download the free tool Hoster from here: http://www.funkytoad.com/download/hoster.zip

Unzip Hoster to a convenient location like your desktop and double click on

Press 'Restore Original Hosts' and press 'OK'
Exit Program.
Note: if you were using a custom Hosts file you will need to replace any of those entries yourself

Once you do the Hoster fix do a reboot you may not have to but
do so. again try & reset your start page then try going online
lit us know if this was any help at all.

I faced the same problem. My home page would change back to 'Yahoo.com" and my default printer would change to 'Adobe PDF'. I started excluding the startup items. When I unchecked "C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities\QCTRAY.EXE" , the problem was solved.

Try it
