Hey I've got virtumonde and no programs can seem to get rid of it automatically...here's my log.

Please try the newly updated Symantec Vundo-Removal Tool [WINFIXER infection]

Download & run FixVundo [it MUST be version 1.3.1 (or later) for the fix to work] from

http://securityresponse.symantec.com...r/FixVundo.exe (V1.4.0 when last checked)

# Close all running programs (including your Internet Browser).
# Locate the file that you just downloaded.
# Double-click the FixVundo.exe file to start the removal tool. Look for the version number: Be sure it's at least V1.3.1 .
# Click Start to begin the process, and then allow the tool to run.

Important: Do not launch any new applications while the tool is running!
# Restart the computer.
# Run the removal tool again to ensure that the system is clean.

Post a revised HJT log and tell us if your PC is now behaving better.

Yes, virtumonde is still present.

Copy these instructions to a file on your desktop.

HIDDEN FILES: To make sure you can see all hidden files, please follow the directions here

SAFEMODE: Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key at restart and choosing 'safe mode' menu option (explained here if needed).

Go to the command prompt (Start>Run>type CMD and hit ENTER key. Copy the following command string lines (one at a time) to that box (use right click to paste) and hit the ENTER key:

DIR C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvs.* > vundojunk.txt
DIR C:\WINDOWS\system32\SVVWA.* >> vundojunk.txt
NOTEPAD.EXE vundojunk.txt

Try running FixVundo again in safemode.
Delete all files listed in the vundojunk.txt file.

REBOOT.
Please run this online virus scan: Panda ActiveScan and post the results of that scan:

Post the vundojunk.txt log, Panda log, and latest HJT log.

hhmmm...when I try to reboot in safe mode, i log on my user (which is an administrator) and i get a quick message with the option to select yes or no. The box dissapears before I can read it. The computer then freezes up or just stays with the black safe mode screen. I haven't been able to do anything instructed in the last post...do u know anything about this?

That may be very difficult to guess without some further poking around.

Go to Start > Run and type: CLEANMGR.EXE and hit enter.
When prompted select the C: drive and click ok.
Check the boxes for:
Temporary Internet Files
Downloaded Program Files
Recycle Bin
Temporary Files
Click OK or Enter

Run the following anti-virus/malware tools:

Get the stinger here:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Download it to another computer if need be, and bring it to the affected computer on floppy disk.

It will kill the top 40 virus files if any are found there

Then,

Run these two online virus/malware scanners (Panda Activescan, Trendmicro Housecall) following these instructions below:

Trend Micro - Housecall:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com (select auto clean before scanning)

Panda Scan:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/product..._principal.htm
This one could take an hour or more so do it only when you have the time to let it run. Tell it to scan for everything including messages and heuristic viruses.

Let them fix what they can. Reboot between scans.

Take note of any FILES that couldn't be deleted. Post any undeletable items and any available LOGS back here (IMPORTANT FEEDBACK) AND go after such FILES yourself if you want (preferably in SAFE MODE - reboot tapping the F8 key) .

These scans will take more than an hour to complete, so make sure you have time to let them run all the way through.
(let us know if any files couldn't be deleted/cleaned.)

Reboot
Post a new HJT log with any detailed feedback from the scans.
