How To Safely Stop Norton?

Several months ago we purchased a new laptop. We requested that Norton Antivirus softwares not be on the system, but I guess it is a requirement from the company. We were going to just not activate it, but everytime we started the system we got annoying pop-ups that hindered our operating abilities. So we activated, but now it constantly gives pop-ups to renew our subscription. This is very agrivating, I wish it removed. But in the past when I removed it from other systems, I would get error messages and in some cases the system would not even startup.

I need a way to stop the annoying alerts, or to safely remove the program from the system. Thank you!

Look in add/remove program and see if you can uninstal/remove from there.

That's what I have done in the past, and it still gives me the error messages. When the systems boot up I get an error message saying that a Symantec file is missing. I do not want this to happen to our new computer
