Hijackthis log(RESOLVED)

Hi,

I was hoping you could take a look at my log. This isn't my laptop, its a regular desktop with xp (finally got a regular one).I went to a Very wrong site i guess and found a few trojans. I tried AVG and it gets rid of some but not all and when i rescan its still there. I also tried trendmicro, spybot and ad-aware. Thanks for any help. Also is there anyway to stop a site or block a site from loading if you accidently go to a bad search engine place or something? Like Altvisa or whatever? And i keep getting "errorelatedmatches" when I get a browser page that isn't up. Is that because of trojans or is that malware/spyware?

(oh and i want to keep the neopets toolbar)

Re: Hijackthis log

Welcome to DAL,

Yes, yes and yes.

Download Clean.bat to your desktop(Save page as or Save as): for later use to clean out your TEMPORARY and PREFETCH files.
http://www.thatcomputerguy.us/downloads/clean.bat

Download CCleaner from here:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4191.html
or here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner.html

don't run the tool just yet please.
Install it. The windows tab should be opened in the upper left of the program. Click analyze and then click run cleaner. Just use the windows tab that is up front by default.

1.Uncheck "Cookies" under "Internet Explorer".

2.If you are running Firefox: ,then click on the "Applications" tab and uncheck "Cookies" under "Firefox".

Run hijackthis and click on scan button and put checks next to these.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = about:blank

Nothing open but hijackthis and click on "fix checked"

Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.

Now run that clean batch file you created earlier, type in 'Y' a couple of times and press enter at the prompts.

Now run CCleaner useing the windows tab only please.

Reboot normal mode

Please download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Ewido trojan scanner: www.ewido.net/en/download/

1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".

2. When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.

3. From the main ewido screen, click on UPDATE in the left menu, then click the Start update button.

4. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"), click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run.

5. If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.

6. When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Please then paste the contents of the text file to this thread, along with a new HijackThis log.

Make sure you are set to normal startup. Click Start -> Run -> Type Msconfig -> Press Enter -> make sure Startup is set to Normal.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Re: Hijackthis log

hi,

I did as you posted but when I went to safe mode my desktop was too large to see anything to the left. I tried to change the screen size while I was in safe mode and normal mode but it stayed too large to do anything safely. Is there a different way to make it smaller or center the screen more instead of it being to the left? I couldn't see the "start" and had to use the windows button on the keyboard to restart.

Try this:

Changing the Screen Size Using Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...esolution.mspx
There is less flexibility in SAFE MODE - often the max resolution is 640x480 or 800x600. You should be able to get at least 1280x1024 in NORMAL MODE.

Also, if you click on the application in question a blue bar will normally show at the very top. Click on that top area and hold the mouse down - you should now now be able to drag the window so that the left edge is now showing. If you position your cursor on any window border area, it should often be possible to resize the window (the cursor will change to a <--> looking image if you position/move your mouse cursor carefully and look carefully for the cursor to change - hold the mouse down at that point and drag it inward to adjust the window size).

Re: Hijackthis log

Vop: thanks. I had changed my resolution like that earlier but it was so off that I couldn't grab the top of the window cuz it was so far up in the left corner that it only showed the white part of the window. Turned out it was my monitor that was off too far to the left. Its a new monitor and didn't know you could change that. Thanks for your help.

Neal,
I completed what you asked. I tried to do the update for ewido before i scanned but it said connection failed. I tried for about 30 minutes to update and finally just scanned. So far since I deleted those (about blank) things my browser is running much faster. Here is ewido scan:

Re: Hijackthis log

Log looks good, let's do an online scan with Panda now and see what it turns up.

Thanks Vince for stepping in while I was gone, glad that problem was taken care of.

Re: Hijackthis log

I had a heck of a time getting to the site. I kept getting "errorrelatedmatches" It just would Not let me onto this site. I could get to other sites by clicking on links I had on my system tray or by typeing in the address but if I used a link for this site or typed in the address it would not work for me at all. did i do something i shouldn't have? I finally went to a link in my email from a note that was automatically sent to me from here and it worked. I'm going to go do the pandasoftware now. Thanks for replying so fast.

Re: Hijackthis log

Hi,

Download CCleaner from here:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4191.html
or here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner.html

don't run the tool just yet please.
Install it. The windows tab should be opened in the upper left of the program. Click analyze and then click run cleaner. Just use the windows tab that is up front by default.

1.Uncheck "Cookies" under "Internet Explorer".

2.If you are running Firefox: ,then click on the "Applications" tab and uncheck "Cookies" under "Firefox".

Download the Intermute stand-alone version of CWShredder from here: cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe
Install it and check for updates then exit, we will use it later.

Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.

Now run CWShredder and click on FIX.

Then run CCleaner useing the windows tab only, click on run cleaner.

Reboot and post a new hijackthis log with feed back on how your computer is running now please.
