avg help?

Hi,my AVG FREE ANTI VIRUS decided yesterday to tell me that my "INTERNAL VIRUS DATABASE" is out of date,when i place the cursor on the (now black and gray logo)it tells me that my calender date is incorrect...not so,the date is right,i checked it many times.I have un-installed and re-installed umpteen times from three different download sites.I get the same problem....tells me every other facet of this system is "loaded and functional"This is the verbatim message i get after telling me my day and date are incorrect.....
"Internal Virus Database...version is 268.4.6/324 and was released 4/25/2006 (181 days ago) Eh?? "Database update is recommended.Last test was run on 4/24/2006 at 8.00.04 am"
I have updated,when i try to update again(just to make sure)it tells me "THERE ARE NO AVAILABLE UPDATES AT THIS TIME"
I am using WINDOWS XP HOME SERVICE PACK 2..

It appears to be a TEMPORARY problem that reoccurs from time-to-time.
