IE Popups and random Favourites list problem(RESOLVED)

Hi there again

I would appreciate your help again with some problems.
The symptom so far are random pop ups and some strange additions to IE favourites list- which are not deletable.
I have performed the usual Spybot,Ad-Aware, Ewido scans and cleans but the symptoms remain.

Suspect an Msn messenger transmitted trojan but its not clear so far.

Here is my log file of HJT for assessment.
Many thanks. again
Graham

Re: IE Popups and random Favourites list problem

HI,

Did you save the Ewido log? If so please post it.

http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
- Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
o Scan Options:
- Scan Archives
- Scan Mail Bases

* Click OK
*Now under select a target to scan:
o Select My Computer
* This program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
o Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
* Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Do you know what this is below?

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [FWLogin] C:\Program Files\Login\login.exe

Re: IE Popups and random Favourites list problem

Hi there Neal,

thanks for the quick reply and advice.

Not sure how I post the detail for the ewido log after the fact however I see in the quarantine list that all are tracking cookies apart from ADWARE.LOP.

I ran the Kaspersky online scanner and it shows up the swizzor trojan that AVG had shown initially and also the LOP adware stuff.
Txt Log attached.
p.s. Oh yes - the HJT log - I didnt spot the O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [FWLogin] C:\Program Files\Login\login.exe

Delete via HJT?
Cheers again

Re: IE Popups and random Favourites list problem

OK, you definately have a LOP infection so please do this so I can find the brains that running the infection:

Download and unzip to it's own folder:
http://metallica.geekstogo.com/findlop.zip

Run(Double Click) the findlop.bat which can be found in the findlop folder and post the result.

Here is what I was looking for:

F4396D54D95F1BC8.job

Quote:
Download: Microsoft Task Scheduler Command Line Utility

http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/jt.zip

Unzip and copy jt.exe to your Windows folder.

Open Notepad, copy and paste the below and "Save As" KillJobs.bat
In the "Save as type" select: All Files

copy/paste everything in second quote box

Quote:
@echo off
jt /sd F4396D54D95F1BC8.job

Copy KillJobs.bat to your Windows folder.
Double-click on "KillJobs.bat"
(when prompted, allow the file to run)

Post a new HJT log please.

Re: IE Popups and random Favourites list problem

Two things:

Run findlop again so we can be sure we got it all and...

Go here http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html and run an online scan with BitDefender (you will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan). When the ActiveX Control has loaded, click on "Click here to scan" and grab a coffee.

When BitDefender completes the scan, select the "Detected Problems" tab. Click on "Click here to export scan". Save the file as an HTML to your Desktop. Then click on the saved file and allow it to open with your browser. Go to Edit - Select All then copy/paste that log back here. Post back and let us know what it found (post the log).

And post a new HJT log also..

Re: IE Popups and random Favourites list problem

pretty good so far...
.
Only obvious problems are the Odd entries in Favourites drop down in Internet Explorer..
e.g Casino online etc plus many other various links..they do not appear deletable as favourites ..or indeed have properties.
When I click on the link the Casino online points to :http://66.220.17.154/search/search.c...&src=bookmarks

Here is the hjthis log:
Cheers again
